The Venetian Las Vegas is an Italian themed casino located towards the north end of the Strip. It opened on May 3, 1999 and is currently owned by Las Vegas Sands. It is, in fact, located on the former site of the infamous Sands Las Vegas. All hotel rooms here are suites and receive five stars by many travel guides and review sites. Palazzo, Venetian’s sister casino resort, is connected by a two-story shopping corridor known as the Grand Canal Shoppes.

Las Vegas, Nevada is the home of slot machine tournaments. More tournaments are held in Las Vegas every year than anywhere else in the world. The Venetian is not known for good gambling. This got even worse in March 2014 when all six-deck blackjack games outside of the high limit salon were dropped to a 6-5 payout. Players looking for a shoe blackjack game that pays 3-2 on a natural will have to play at least $100 per hand, or venture to one of the many nearby casinos.
Blackjack at Venetian
If you are going to play here, shoe Blackjack games start at just $10 during the day. It often goes up to $15 at night and on the weekends. There are a total of 36 shoe blackjack games at Venetian and all have a $2,000 max bet. Blackjack Switch and Free Bet Blackjack offer the same betting minimums and maximums as other shoe games.
There are five Double Deck Blackjack games that start with a $50 minimum during off peak hours. These tables go up to $100 during busy nights. The maximum Double Deck Blackjack bet is $5,000.
Craps and Roulette
There are seven craps tables. The bet range is $10-$5,000. Odds are 3-4-5 times. There are seven roulette tables with $10-$500 spreads. There is one roulette wheel with just one zero. It does not offer European rules. The bet range there is $25-$500.
Other Table Games
Venetian spreads a wide variety of exotic games. There is Casino War, Double Draw Poker, Let it Ride, Big Raise Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, Three Card Poker and Crazy4Poker. These games have a $10-$100 bet spread.
There are two Asian table game pits. There are two $25-$5,000 Pai Gow Poker tables and six $25-$20,000 baccarat tables.
High Limit Room at Venetian
The high limit area at The Venetian offers Double Deck Blackjack, Six-Deck Blackjack, Baccarat and Roulette with a single zero wheel. The double deck game allows double down after splitting with a $200 minimum bet. The shoe game has a $100 minimum and allows doubling after the split as well as surrender. All high limit blackjack pays 3-2 on a natural and the dealer stays on all 17’s. The maximum posted bet is $10,000 but Venetian will accommodate higher rollers upon request. Baccarat has a $200-$20,000 bet spread in the high limit salon. Roulette has a $100 minimum bet.
Video Table Games
Players looking for lower limit table games can sit at one of the many video versions. Each has a $5 minimum bet and all accept players’ cards, something unusual for video table games in Las Vegas. Players can choose from two Shoot to Win Craps games, Roulette Revolution, as well as Dealers Angel’s baccarat and blackjack. The great feature of the blackjack machine is that it pays 3-2 on a blackjack, offers surrender, and the dealer stays on all 17’s. This is a much better blackjack game than anything that can be found in the Venetian pit.
Video Poker, Penny Slots & Player’s Club
There are also a wide variety of penny slots and video poker machines. The video poker selection at Venetian is terrible. The best game is 8/5 Jacks or Better. This game has a 1.55% house edge with perfect play on five coins. The popular Heads Up Texas Hold’em machines may be found near the poker room. These machines do not accept players’ cards.
The Venetian’s Grazie player’s club issues comps in an unusual way. Instead of being tied to a coin-in or wager amount, it comps based on a percentage of the house edge on the game. This means that players at penny slot machines will earn over 20 times the comps as video blackjack players that wager the same amount.
Sands Poker Room at The Venetian
The Sands Poker Room spreads one of the widest selections of poker games in Las Vegas. No Limit Texas Hold’em games with 1/2 and 2/5 blinds are available 24 hours a day. Fixed Limit 4/8 Texas Hold’em and Omaha High/Low are also typically spread at all hours of the day and night. Omaha High/Low at 8/16 and 15/30 are common. Venetian is happy to spread any mixed game or Open Face Chinese when there is interest.
